The Portage Anglers
Club was formed in November of 2001 by private residents
concerned with the lakes in the Curtis area. Their goal
is to help supplement the population of fish in the lakes
by raising funds to purchase and stock walleyes, build
structure for the fish, and revive the Walleye Jamboree
that was always a popular fishing contest in the past.
One other goal is to purchase, erect, and maintain public
fishing piers on the lakes.
This fall the Anglers
Club purchased 1700 walleye ranging in length from 8"
to 12". Many volunteers came out to help the club
clip the fins of these fish before putting them in the
lake, a request from the DNR.
